Obesity and respiratory pathology

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the interrelations of obesity with respiratory pathology are complex, currently explained in terms of new pathogenic theories. In children, obesity has a negative impact on quality of life, both by the appearance of comorbidities, and the difficulties of therapy associated pathologies.
Purpose: to evaluate the clinical and epidemiological point of view, respiratory comorbidities in a group of obese children.
Material and methods: the study group consisted of 110 children diagnosed with overweight. They evaluated the presence of asthma, gastroesophageal reflux disease, atopic dermatitis and allergic mucosal manifestations.
Results: the incidence of respiratory events in obesity is high, meeting the third of the children. In 31% of cases there is a real association between obesity and asthma, gastroesophageal reflux was found in fourth and fifth events in patients allergic to. Obesity changes the negative development of chronic respiratory pathology in children of school age, intervening negative quality of life.
