ABSTRACT
Newborn screening represents an important preventive public health program, the test providing informations that can change the course of the baby’s life. The classic example is newborn screening for phenylketonuria. The authors present dates about the history of the screening for phenylketonuria, requirements for performing the screening and the working methodology.
