Hemochromatosis assesment in β thalassaemia major

ABSTRACT

β thalassaemia major is a severe anaemia which requires lifetime transfusional treatment, without it the patient would not survive. The chronic transfusional regimen causes an iron overload which needs a regular monitoring for establishing an effective iron chelation therapy.

β Talasemia majoră este o anemie ereditară severă care necesită tratament transfuzional toată viaţa, fără de care pacientul nu poate supravieţui. Regimul transfuzional cronic determină hemocromatoza secundară care trebuie monitorizată regulat, în vederea unui tratament chelator de fier eficient.
